Where are you located?

Frostwood is based in Brevard, NC, nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Gorges State Park.

What services do you offer?

Do I need to sign anything?

Yes. All guests and participants must sign a digital waiver before attending any workshop, tour, or consulting service. You'll be emailed the form or can find it linked on each service page.

Can I book a private date or group session?

Absolutely. Reach out through the contact form to request a custom time, group rate, or unique service offering.

How do I pay?

Once your workshop or consult is approved, you’ll receive a secure Stripe link by email. All payments are handled digitally. Airbnb handles yurt bookings directly.

Can I bring kids?

Children are welcome for tours with adult supervision. Workshops involving animal processing are not suitable for minors unless pre-approved.

Do I get to keep the chicken or goat meat?

Yes, if you participate in a processing workshop, you can take some meat home. All meat is uninspected and not for resale. Bring a cooler and ice if you plan to take any home.

What’s your cancellation policy?

  • Yurt stays follow Airbnb’s cancellation policies.

  • Workshops & consults - Once your waiver is submitted and payment is processed, you have 7 calendar days to cancel for a full refund.
    After that window, your booking is final and non-refundable. Cancellations must be submitted in writing to info@frostwoodpermaculture.com
    No-shows and missed sessions are not eligible for refunds. Rescheduling or a credit may be provided in extreme circumstances.

Is the yurt off-grid?

Yes. The yurt runs on a solar power system with a backup generator. It includes lights, a cooler fridge, water pump, charging ports, and a propane heater.

Is there a bathroom or shower?

Yes. The yurt has a hot outdoor shower and a private outhouse. Water supply is pump-fed from a 100-gallon cistern.

Can I bring pets?

Yes, friendly pets are welcome! Please keep them supervised and clean up after them. Let us know in advance if you’re bringing an animal.

Is there Wi-Fi or cell service?

Yes. The yurt has Starlink Wi-Fi, but it may be intermittent. Text and calls typically work fine. Video streaming can experience some buffering.

How long does the battery last?

With normal use, the solar generator lasts about 2 days. Please avoid draining the battery below 20% to extend system life. A backup generator is available and will be provided upon request.

Can I use candles or have a fire?

Yes. Candles are allowed indoors with caution. There’s also a designated outdoor fire pit. Firewood will be provided and additional may be purchased from a nearby store. A burn permit will be provided, unless a ban is in place.

Do I need to clean before checkout?

Basic tidying is very much appreciated, as we don’t charge extra for cleaning.

How do I get there?

We’ll send directions before your stay. The yurt is in Brevard, NC in Transylvania County, about 20 minutes out of downtown Brevard towards Cashiers and Lake Toxaway. Accessible by most vehicles - state maintained roads all the way, gravel driveway on the property.

What should I bring?

  • Flashlight or headlamp

  • Layers for changing weather

  • Your favorite snacks and drinks

  • Any personal comfort items (pillows, blankets, games)

  • Sleeping bag if using the cot

  • Anything else you would typically pack

Can I schedule a tour or workshop during my stay?

Yes! Guests often book a $50 permaculture tour or join a workshop. Mention it in your message or check our Workshops page for more info.
